Educational Leadership Programs Admissions Requirements and Exit Criteria
Specific Admissions Requirements
Master of Education in Educational Leadership
- Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience
- Recommendations from (1) Principal and (2) District Superintendent.
Principal Certification Only
- Prior master's degree in education
- Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience
- Recommendations from (1) Principal and (2) District Superintendent.
Reading Supervisor Certification
- Prior master’s degree in reading
- Minimum five (5) years teaching experience in reading or as a reading specialist
- Certification as a reading specialist
- Recommendations from (1) Principal and (2) District Superintendent.
Exit Criteria
The exit criteria outlined below will allow the candidate to synthesize, integrate, and demonstrate knowledge acquired in the programs. With this in mind, the following exit criteria will be required:
- Successful completion of all coursework with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better as outlined in the Graduate Catalog
- Grade of B or better in the practicum experience(s)
- Successful completion and presentation of the Professional Development Plan (PDP) and the Professional Portfolio
- Presentation of a formal summary paper to representatives from the School of Education during EDUC 589 Seminar in Educational Leadership
- Passing score on the Pennsylvania Department of Education required certification assessments
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience, on an active certificate, to receive Pennsylvania Certification.
