Specific Program Admission Requirements

  • The Reading Specialist program requires that the student hold a valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate or certificate from a reciprocating state. Students should see an academic advisor if they do not already have a teacher certification.
  • Candidates working towards a Special Education Pre K-8 certificate must have an already-existing certificate in Pre K-4, Middle Level 4-8 or Reading Specialist K-12. Candidates working towards a Special Education 7-12 certificate must have an already-existing secondary content area or Reading Specialist K-12 certificate.
  • Candidates for the ESL Program Specialist must hold a valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II certificate.
