The program is flexible and designed for working professionals with courses offered during evening and summer sessions at the Northeast or Newtown locations. Some online and weekend courses are available to provide flexible course offerings which are structured for the working practitioner seeking advanced studies for professional development and advancement. Accepted doctoral students are expected to maintain continuous enrollment each semester and during the summer sessions.

The Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Professional Studies is a sixty (60) credit program. All students complete a required core of nine courses (27 credits) listed below.

Doctoral students who desire to gain their principal certification in Pennsylvania as part of the doctoral program are required to take the concentration courses listed below. Since the certification is embedded within the doctoral program an additional nine credits are required for a total of 69 credits for the entire doctoral program.

Students in Professional Studies may pursue a coherent sequence of doctoral courses that meets their goals. This set of doctoral courses must be approved by the doctoral committee, Director of the Doctoral Program and the Dean.
Once doctoral students complete the above course requirements, they apply to take their comprehensive exams. Once they pass the comprehensive exams, then they enroll in the following capstone research experiences:
