BA with Secondary Certification Candidacy
Bachelor’s degree candidates must meet all of the University’s requirements for graduation in addition to the teacher certification requirements listed above. Coordination of the Secondary Education programs is the joint responsibility of the student’s Education faculty advisor and the faculty advisor associated with the academic area of concentration. Advising regarding the teacher education sequence of courses, experiences, and requirements is provided by the Education faculty advisor. Faculty advisors for coursework in specific disciplines are assigned by the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences or designee.
Areas of certification in Secondary Education are: Art (K-12), Biology (7-12), English (7-12), Mathematics (7-12) and Social Studies (7-12). The requirements for these specific certification areas are listed.
